This could be due to a laser fault, a common manufacturing fault known to Sony. It could just need a full service by one of our technicians or it could need replacing altogether.

There could be something wrong with the mechanism within the DVD drive that is not allowing the disc to enter. It may just need a full service by one of our technicians or the laser housing may need to be replaced.
Q. My console does not power up?
This could be due to a fault with the power port, power switch or power supply. In which case we would replace the faulty part for you.
Q. My PS3-PS2-PS2 Slim keeps crashing / freezing?
There is a difference between freezing and crashing. If your console freezes this can be a fault with the laser which may need a full service by one of our technicians, it could also relate to a problem with the motherboard. If your PS3-PS2-PS2 Slim crashes the whole system may be corrupt.
Q. I think my PS3-PS2-PS2 Slim may be overheating?
There is no right or wrong conclusion as to whether PS3-PS2-PS2 Slim’s should be laid down or upright. The way they are built allows a lot of air to circulate, we would advise to avoid over heating please keep your console in non enclosed areas to allow good air flow.
Q. My PS3-PS2-PS2 Slim casing has been damaged?
If the casing to your PS3-PS2-PS2 Slim has been damaged we can replace it for you.
Q. If I send my console to you will I lose all my data?
You would only lose your data if we carried out a repair that involved removing the data. A PS3 HDD if taken out and put into another console would automatically reformat itself anyway.
Q. The Wifi is not working on my PS3 ?
This is a common fault and we could first advise that you check your router settings. Occasionally there can be a fault with the Ethernet port which will disable connection. If this fault is assisted by the fan making a lot of noise, the fan may be faulty and need replacing.
Q. My PS3 is not reading BluRay discs?
The laser may need a full service by one of our technicians or the laser may need replacing.
Q. My PS3-PS2-PS2 Slim will not play on my TV?
Please check that your TV is set to the right settings and that you are using the correct cables, i.e. HDMI or AV.
Q. My HDMI cable is not working?
Please check you are using the correct HDMI / AV settings. This could be a fault with the cable ports or the motherboard which we can repair for you.
Q. There is a disc stuck inside my console?
This could be a fault with the mechanism, we can try to receive the disc but we cannot guarantee the disc will not be damaged in the process.
Q. My PS3 controller will not connect via wireless to my PS3 ?
This can be due to a fault with the controller or the wireless board within the console which we can replace for you.
